O.1. 20-0914 DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE CITY'S LOCAL EMERGENCY PERTAINING TO COVID-19
ADOPT BY TITLE ONLY RESOLUTION NO. CC-2005-031, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH CALIFORNIA CONFIRMING THE ACTIONS OF THE CITY MANAGER ACTING AS THE DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY SERVICES IN ISSUING ADDITIONAL EMERGENCY PUBLIC ORDERS DATED MAY 7, 2020 AND AN UPDATED SUMMARY OF EMERGENCY ORDERS UNDER THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH'S EMERGENCY AUTHORITY
Please figure out a way that business on the pier can take place. The Redondo pier is much different than the Manhattan Beach & Hermosa piers that do not have businesses.
As a former Redondo Beach resident, I implore you to open the restaurants on the pier. We return every year and can't imagine a visit to Redondo without being able to enjoy Old Ton'ys, and the charm of the pier. We probably will have no reason to RB with our vacation dollars, as my kids have moved away from there. This is a heartbreaking situation. Please don't shutter this Redondo Pier Landmark.
I support the re-opening of all businesses in RB. Our pier is unique since it is homes to shops and iconic restaurants and the council is ignoring their right to do buisness. Please do not blindly follow other cities whose situations are different. Take a stand Mayor Brand.
Support with concerns - need to make sure that all Redondo restaurants are allowed to open at the same time, given they have committed to social distancing and taken the necessary precautions. If outdoor dining (TUP) helps solve this, designate areas adjacent to restaurants and/or shared common spaces for this use. This applies to Riviera Village, North Redondo, and the Redondo Pier. There is plenty of open space on the pier and in the parking areas to accommodate. Thank you for your consideration.
