A permit for business doing the proper thing to protect their customers? I’m a Redondo Beach resident who has been to the Pier every week for the last 10 years. We would all agree that much could be done to improve the pier, however this is a huge misstep. Charging businesses for outdoor space when COVID cases are rising again (and a number of businesses are experiencing current outbreaks) seems to not have a grasp on public health safety.
These aren’t parking spaces where the city is loosing revenue, this was dead space and the businesses that expanded up there brought life to a floundering pier. The outdoor dining above and along the boardwalk brought life to the pier while providing safety to me and our visitors.
Please work to assist businesses survive and support a safe Redondo Beach Pier for visitors.
I have been a Redondo Beach resident for the last 8 years and have always supported the wonderful local businesses and teams. These teams need us now more than ever with the long lasting economic effects of the pandemic and the morale of their teams. These businesses have been very flexible and forgiving with the ever changing mandates and restrictions and have been able to fight to keep their businesses and livelihoods operating despite multiple challenges. Let's keep the outdoor dining and drinking going - it's been a huge asset to the local community and these businesses need it to survive.
We support Local Restaurants and their ability to have patio dining. They are trying to meet the needs of their customers who are returning after a year of the uncertainty of the pandemic. We do not feel that the Harbor Commission should charge an exorbitant amount for the patio permit. Let's show love and support for these restaurants who are trying to survive at this time.
