As many Redondo residents are as yet unaware that we have upcoming elections in February, ROW is rescheduling its Candidate Forum to February 4, 2021 at 6PM.

The mentally-exhausting events at a national level have been distracting everyone from important local issues that will be decided upon in our vote finalized on March 2. We concur with waiting for the fog to clear after the Presidential Inauguration, and when our Redondo Beach ballots are being sent.

While ROW’s focus has been on the Harbor area, and we appreciate the many questions submitted so far, we also welcome any questions you have for citywide issues and concerns.

Redondo Beach is a great place to live, and we want to give our residents an opportunity to ask each candidate to describe their vision for the city’s future.

Questions can be submitted to info@RescueOurWaterfront.org, RescueOurWaterfront@gmail.com or as an Instant Message on the ROW Facebook page.

Hello I’m Michael Ian Sachs and I’m running for Mayor of Redondo Beach.

When I ran for Mayor 4 years ago I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I met so many loving and caring Redondo Beach residents. I also met all the current councilpersons and I believe them to be good people who care deeply about our city. I also believe Mayor Brand is a good man who I share a few policy differences with as I did previously with Mayor Aspel. I salute all the candidates for throwing their hats in the ring of what are mostly thankless jobs. I’m thankful so many people care enough about our city to get involved. The overarching issues of my campaign will focus on getting money out of politics and promoting respectful debate. I look forward to sharing ideas relating to solving the issues that face Redondo Beach residents.

    ITEM J. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – E COMMENT
    Mayor and Honorable Council Members,

Redondo Beach’s ability to face economic recovery in the years ahead will depend decidedly on the March election for Mayor and Council Members. There is a fine group of well-qualified candidates that want to bring progress and collaborative leadership to Redondo Beach: Chris Voisey for Mayor; Brad Waller for District 1; Paul Moses or Erika Snow Robinson for District 2; John Gran for District 4 and Mike Webb for City Attorney. These candidates have the talent and vision our City needs. Redondo residents need to hear from them.

A forum sponsored by the highly biased Rescue Our Waterfront political action committee that is supporting its own slate of candidates with very negative campaigns, is not what the City residents need right now. We have the opportunity to change the tone of our politics in Redondo Beach and focus on moving forward positively and with civility.

The City or other neutral organizations should invite the League of Women’s Voters to run a candidate forum as has been done in the past. The League of Women Voters has a track record of hosting fair, unbiased debates with the purpose and intent only to educate and inform voters. I hope all of you will support well-informed Redondo Beach voters by sponsoring a fair and impartial debate opportunity.

    Respectfully submitted,
    Maggie Healy
    Redondo Beach
