Dear Mayor Brand and city council,
As the committee chairperson for the Redondo Beach Community Garden effort, I would like to share that we look forward to presenting to city council on the details of a proposed community garden, hopefully at a council meeting in January of 2021. Thank you for expressing your interest and support in a community garden, which would be a huge benefit to residents of the city. We were grateful to be included as an item in the city's 6-month strategic plan. I am writing because we are also interested in seeing whether the council would consider allocating any surplus budget from 2020 in part, towards the community garden project. If there are funds that have yet to be allocated for 2020, and that can be allocated for parks and community services, we feel that these would be well directed to go towards a community garden. Though we hope to raise funding through a variety of means, we are hoping for contributions to come from the city as well. The city of Hermosa Beach, for example, had put around $40,000 towards the creation of their community garden several years ago. I will be in touch with interim Community Services director, Laura Koike, and city council members. Thank you for considering this!
Signed,
Brianna Egan, chairperson for Redondo Beach Community Garden committee with the South Bay Parkland Conservancy.
PART TWO: Case #20-620X
With the new DA GEORGE GASCON now in as LA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY:
What will be done to ensure CRIMINALS like my brother’s attacker NEVER be let out again and receive the punishment and consequences he obviously deserves since my brother will be living with this nightmare for the rest of his life?
How can the Redondo Beach residents fight back against CRIMINALS?
THE CRIMINALS ARE WALKING FREE while those who follow the RULE OF LAW PAY SEVERELY!
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
WHO is letting these MAD CRIMINALS LOOSE?
KFI reported today 12/15/20 Gascon appointed a Prosecutor with 5 years experience telling 20 and 30 year prosecutors how to handle their cases.
Boyfriend shoots girlfriend 8 times in the face: he gets PROBATION?!?!
Baby gets strangled and stabbed is on feeding tube: attacker gets maybe 8 years?!?!?!
NEWS about above cases:
From a father whose daughter was shot 8 times in the face, to the parents of a baby whose skull was crushed, families of SoCal crime victims lash out at L.A.'s new district attorney George Gascón, fearing his new directives will release violent criminals back to the streets.
Eyewitness news with their impassioned pleas to the new D.A., and why Gascón believes their fears are overblown. Tonight at 11 from ABC7. https://abc7.la/2KofS07

PART ONE: Case #20-620X
On November 30, 2020 in the city of Redondo Beach, at Inglewood / Rockefeller, my brother was sitting in front of his apartment in his car on phone. He was violently stabbed 48 times in a car-jacking / attempted murder. He almost lost his right eye. He fought his attacker off who wanted to MURDER him. He received multiple injuries to his hands, which he currently cannot use- he cannot drive-he cannot work! He almost bled out at the scene. Thank you to the responding police officer(s) who applied a tourniquet, saving his life at the scene. As a result, my brother did not bleed out and DIE in front of his OWN apartment. Thank GOD he was strong enough to survive this ATTEMPTED MURDER. What if he died, was not “lucky”? What if the police did not respond quickly? What if the surgeon’s did not save his eye? His hands? What if it was a different victim (a mother, child)?
What will the city of Redondo Beach be doing to KEEP ALL RESIDENTS SAFE from these crimes? We currently have NO idea who this attacker is, even though he was apprehended (thanks to police work (hope they aren’t getting DEFUNDED!)
Do Redondo Beach residents even know what happened? There is no information to be found about this attack anywhere?
My brother will be saddled with the scars for LIFE and tons of MEDICAL BILLS. Never mind the TRAUMA of this event mentally and physically.
His car is parked on the street where the reminders are in his car of the attack that he has to get someone to move his car for him for STREET SWEEPING tickets (while we work through insurance, which will hopefully help to pay and get it cleaned of these BLOOD STAINS from the CRIMINAL who bled in the car along with my brother after he STOLE it and left my brother to die).
Didn't your contract require you to have at least one individual housed in the shelter by Dec 1st? I do not believe this has happened at Kingsdale. So what happens now? Do they go to Seaside Lagoon? Which is exactly where they should have been from the beginning.
This comment asks the City Council consider suspending enforcement of street sweeping parking violations at least until the end of the current State order. Parking is quite difficult already without having to leave each half of the street empty once a week. Thank you.

Please suspend street sweeping enforcement until after the stay at home order.
