J.8. PS20-1691 VOLUNTEERS IN POLICING REPORT
The Volunteers in Policing (VIP) program was established in 1994, as part of the community based policing philosophy. The goal of the Police Department is to create a partnership with members of the community who can assist us with specific law enforcement tasks. The duties of the Volunteers In Patrol (VIP's) include vacation checks, issuing citations for Disabled Parking violations, graffiti reporting and documentation, assisting with traffic control at special events, park/school patrols, disaster response and patrol of the South Bay Galleria.
