At the City Council meeting of August 18, the item regarding
commission appointments was postponed until tonight.
That prior Administrative Report indicated that the Mayor Recommendations
would be coming as a Blue Folder item.
However, now, two weeks later, there are still no recommendations posted
for the public to view, and the current Administrative Report again simply states
that they are forthcoming as a Blue Folder.
Today, I queried the Mayor, City Manager, and City Clerk, but never secured those.
Last year, not having these recommendations available to view was critiqued
by both council members and the public.
Although there are a couple of citizen letters posted in a Blue Folder, as of
tonight’s meeting, underway now, the recommendations are still NOT posted.
It is impossible for the community to comment on the Mayor recommendations, via
Written email Communication, when those recommendations are NEVER posted.
There are usually numerous vacancies and those require some time to review.
eComments are often read after the council has already engaged in lengthy discussions,
and the public may feel that the council has already largely solidified their decisions.
Of course, the council has much less time to thoroughly review such public eComments.
