Last week on Wednesday, there was a line of people on the public sidewalk on South Broadway Street to collect what appeared to be free handouts from St. James Church. Around 12:30 p.m., still in line were approximately 40 people, none of whom were wearing masks or practicing social distancing per the the 6' County guidelines established. I have no idea how many people in total had waited in line or when it started. It was clear that many of those were gathered together on public property and private property lawns, enjoying what they had received, still not practicing social distancing or wearing masks in this neighborhood.

If the churches have resumed their "volunteer meal and handout programs" to those in need, they DO need to understand that we're still under County public health orders, with guidelines. As such, they need to ensure that the facilitation of these programs, from start to finish, take place entirely on their own private property, especially with regard to standing in line without adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines. It is grossly unfair to the local neighborhoods to experience an influx of those not practicing the County Public Health Orders, and then lingering in their neighborhoods as well. Please consider having PATH address this and writing to the local churches and other organizations who participate in providing free weekly food and other items to those in need. Thank you.
