As a parent and resident, I support the City Council's proposal for a moratorium on new smoke shops. Smoke shops send the wrong message about the culture, health, and aesthetics of our community. As a community, we need to make changes that will attract the type of businesses that will revitalize our city.

Thank you to the City Council for looking into the permits issued to smoke shops and proposing a moratorium on any new smoke shops in the interim. I believe there are 15 smoke shops in our City and that is plenty. These shops advertise their products in the windows, use obnoxious neon lighting and drive away other businesses from the area. The City needs to focus on attracting other long-term, viable businesses that will revive our shopping and entertainment districts and bring much needed revenue to the City. I strongly urge the Council to vote in favor of this urgent interim ordinance. Thank you.

I applaud the city initiative of issuing a moratorium until the final city ordinance regulating smoke shops is finalized. This is a much-needed ordinance in Redondo Beach. I believe most residents will agree that we have too many smoke shops.

I wholeheartedly support the interim ordinance on smoke shops. This urgent measure is necessary to address the growing number of smoke shops in our community. By temporarily halting new developments, the city can ensure that a comprehensive and well-considered final ordinance is put in place. This proactive step will help protect public health and improve the character of our beautiful city. The council's decision reflects its commitment to the well-being of all Redondo Beach residents.
